Loretta Dorman Medal 
The Loretta Dorman Medal is for the player judged as the most outstanding in ML1.  This award emulates the high standard demonstrated by Loretta in her years of commitment to hockey.
Loretta commenced playing hockey at the age of 12 and eventually represented Australia at the 1980 World Cup, 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games.  Her outstanding playing performance extended into a very successful coaching career. 
We acknowledge and are very grateful for Loretta’s contribution to our sport. 

Finalists
Margot van Geffen from ND Strikers 
Margot has played 265 games for The Netherlands and is the third highest capped player. 
She has won the 2024, 2018 and 2022 World Cups and has won gold and silver 2012, 2016 and 2020 Olympics respectively. 
Margot is currently enjoying playing with a coaching career in Sydney.

Maya Almenara del Solar from GNS  
Maya has represented NSW since 2022 from Under 15s and is currently in the Under 18s team.
Maya also excels in Indoor Hockey having represented NSW
arlier this year, Maya was a member of the U16 Australian Joeys Development Team participating in the U18 European Easter Cup.

Chelsea Holmes from Mbank/Liverpool  
Chelsea has represented NSW in Under 21s and has been a member of NSW Pride since 2023 and is a squad member for the Australian Jillaroos. 
Chelsea is also a NSWIS Scholarship recipient.  To culminate an outstanding season, Chelsea was named Player of the Tournament at the NSW Opens State Championship.

Hockey is a sport that relies on volunteers.  
SWHL acknowledged and expressed their appreciation for the 22 years of service given by Paul Economides on the SWHL committee. 
The award was presented by Alex El Shamy, President Hockey NSW.
