Metro League Six: UTS 1 def. Wentworthville 0

The ML6 final featured 2 teams who had played 1-1 and 0-0 draws during the regular season, and who had both beaten the minor premiers in the previous weeks' finals to reach the decider. A close game was expected, and was delivered. UTS dominated the first half, but were unable to convert their chances. Returning from the break at 0-0, it was Wentworthville who then controlled possession best and pressured the UTS defence, using the strong wind at their backs to great effect. It appeared as the game would head into extra time, but with 7 minutes remaining, young UTS striker Anna Dobrijevic went on a 40-yard solo run, beating 3 players before slotting a great goal from the top of the circle. An exciting final few minutes ensued, as Wentworthville threw everything at the tiring UTS defence, but the students held on for an exciting victory, in front of a large and supportive crowd.
